balance your routine does not use machines, just tools that provide functional movement, balance and engage the body’s core. equipment like a BOSU, exercise ball, core balls, free weights, resistance bands, foam roll, standing, mat work and soon to come to the studio - the TRX suspension trainer. our holistic approach that implements gradual lifestyle changes treats your entire body, while the diverse types of training, make you less likely to get bored, and you’ll be able to replicate the exercises in your own home. creating sustainable changes to your daily routine.
Can you get an effective workout without the use of machines?
of course! most machines focus on primarily one specific muscle while a machine holds you in place. why isolate one muscle when we use our entire body to perform all our daily activities. by using free weights with proper form and body mechanics, you learn how to engage all the correct muscles. when your entire body learns how to work together, you decrease your chances of being injured, increase your balance, coordination and strengthen your core.

ABOUT STACY ::
OWNER / EXERCISE SPECIALIST
my name is Stacy Johnson and I am a graduate of Bastyr University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science & Wellness.
I arrived at Bastyr after many years of competitive swimming, competing in triathlons, other local events, coaching all ages of swimming, and others wanting to compete in triathlons, along with working in various positions in the health and fitness fields. I was excited to understand the science of how our bodies work. after graduation, I was eager to use all that I had learned and ended up working in a physical therapy clinic as an Exercise Specialist.
HOW I STARTED balance your routine ::
after years of competing, my body was full of injuries and I was constantly in pain. I tried different workouts and saw different doctors and eventually found out I had a congenital hip defect, a degenerative disk in my back, and a whole bunch of other injuries ... I thought I was going to be in daily pain. one of the biggest lessons I learned while at Bastyr (but did not realize until years after graduation) was that my body and life had no balance. I trained too hard, my job was too demanding and my body was only getting progressively worse -- I needed to make a change. I left my job and started developing my own method of training by combining all that I have learned over the years. I was able to rebuild my body and found that exercise is the key to keeping me out of pain and able to function throughout my daily routine. I now live pain free and enjoy an active-balanced lifestyle with my husband and dog, Dixie.
I love that I have a job that makes a big impact in others lives.

Getting married at 39 for the first time is extremely daunting: most of the dresses are designed for women in their twenties and not for a woman with years of wisdom (and cheetos). I was active in Pilates, but knew I needed weight training. Through my Pilates instructor, I found Stacy Johnson.
Stacy was great from the beginning. Not only did she listen to my needs and hopes, she also ensured that we worked towards realistic goals. Always accommodating, Stacy created a schedule to slowly introduce strength training and ramp up the meetings and intensity the closer the big day came. The month before, I was meeting with her twice a week and feeling powerful.
By my wedding day I had lost 7 pounds. I not only felt beautiful but knew I looked good.
Two months after my wedding, I decided to return to Stacy. Naturally, I didn't have as much cash flow since my husband and I were still paying off the wedding debt. Again, Stacy listened. We created a moderate schedule that would bring me back into shape without breaking the bank.
Stacy gets it. She understands that life makes many demands on individuals and can work within those demands to design a unique, successful program. I highly recommend Stacy, whether you need to look great for a special event or want to improve your health and feel better, she'll get you there.

I have been racing off-road motorcycles for the past 6 years. Being 37 I've concluded that competing at the level I'm striving to get to, I'd have to maintain a higher level of physical fitness. I knew I couldn't achieve this goal without some professional expertise! I have always kept up on my fitness and workouts myself and felt good about it. I found Stacy Johnson and ...
...after just a few of her workout regimens I could tell that what I was doing on my own wasn't enough. She had tailored a workout that specifically targeted muscles to enhance my strength and endurance to achieve my racing goals. It has completely changed the way I feel and the way I ride!
She has brought my physical confidence to a new level. One thing I truly like about working with Stacy was that she seemed to be utterly focused on the task at hand. She would also go above and beyond with ideas at later dates to better upgrade my workouts. That showed me that her goal was to achieve optimal results with her clients. My exercise training experience with Ms. Johnson was great. Ms. Johnson instructed me in over sixty exercises during the course of six months. The exercises were carefully prescribed to meet the current state of my muscular control so that whether I was at the beginning level or advancing in the program, they were just right for my level of development. I really liked the systematic exercise program chart she provided. With the chart, I could easily follow an exercise protocol independently, which worked my entire body within a twenty minute period.
As a physical therapist, I appreciated Ms. Johnsons ability to observe correct body mechanics, and her ability to work with me to problem solve difficulties with muscle weakness, pain, and flexibility issues.
With my training program, I have increased strength, flexibility, and balance and decreased joint pain.
Overall I would rate Ms. Johnsons knowledge and ability to work with her clients as superb.

I highly recommend Stacy Johnson as a personal trainer. She is knowledgeable and easy to work with. She worked with me as I was both training for a marathon and struggling with an injury.
She looked at the exercises that my physical therapist has assigned and helped me figure out how best to reamp them up to continue my healing.
She also worked with my whole body so that I was stronger all over, which really helped my running. Thanks to the training plan Stacy put together, I was able to finish my first marathon! She is reliable and fun to work out with. She understands that people come into training with different levels of previous knowledge and can adjust her workouts appropriately. She also puts together great worksheets to help you keep track of your training plan and what all the various exercises are. I've continued to work with Stacy after the marathon and she adjusted my workout plan to my new goals. The new plan is tough, but I love it and I'm seeing great results!

I am a 44 yo woman who has been moderately active throughout my life, but in the last few years had stopped exercising regularly; I worked a stressful job, and my body was showing the strain. I had gained 30 lbs., and developed chronic neck and shoulder pain that was not helped by weekly massages;
I came to Stacy knowing that I needed to get some balance back in my life, but also knowing I didn't have the discipline to do it for myself--or even where to start.
We began slowly, with light weights to strengthen my shoulders and back; within 2 months, the chronic pain was gone. I had also developed high blood pressure and my resting pulse was above 100; after 4 months of twice-weekly workouts, with some walking on my own, it has come down to a healthy rate of 64. After a year I have lost 16+ pounds and my body is tightening and growing more defined. I can honestly say I enjoy each session with Stacy; I often come in wishing I didn't have to work out, and by the end of the hour I feel great and am so glad I did. I've even started adding some at-home workouts that Stacy prepared for me, and I am committed to sticking with exercise for the long haul because I truly believe it can work miracles!
